OR18 Newberg Dundee Bypass (Phase 1D)
Yamhill County, Oregon
Start Date: August 2014
End Date: September 2016
Owner: Oregon Dept. of Transportation
The Newberg-Dundee Bypass is a controlled-access expressway that will significantly reduce traffic congestion on OR99W, greatly improving livability and traffic flow in the surrounding communities. Phase 1 extends four miles from OR219/Wilsonville Road to OR99W south of Dundee, with one travel lane in each direction. The full bypass is an 11-mile, four-lane highway around the cities of Newberg and Dundee.
Hamilton Construction was awarded the contract to build the portion of the project between McMinnville and Newberg from Chehalem Creek to the connection with OR 99W on the south side of Dundee. This phase included six of the ten bridges that will be built for the entire project. Other Hamilton work included three monotube signs on spread footings and one sign bridge. There was a substantial grading/drainage package on the project. The majority of the new highway alignment is concrete paving with asphalt paving sections at the ends and overpasses.
