Siuslaw River Bridge
US 101, Florence, Oregon
Start Date: June 2009
End Date: July 2011
Historic met high tech at the US 101 Siuslaw River Bridge in Florence, Oregon when Oregon Department of Transportation Bridge Preservation Unit, ODOT project management, and general contractor Hamilton Construction collaborated to give the bridge its first major upgrade of structural, electrical, and mechanical systems since it was completed in 1936.
An interesting historical note ties the project back to Hamilton: In the 1930’s, when the bridge was originally built, the concrete foreman responsible for all the concrete work including the distinctive Art Deco Style concrete obelisks was none other than Harry Hamilton, who later went on to establish Hamilton Construction in 1939.
