West Vancouver Freight Access Project – Project 16 Lafarge Modifications
Start Date: February 2014
End Date: Summer 2014
Owner: Port of Vancouver, USA
Hamilton returned to the Port of Vancouver USA in 2014 to complete another phase of the port’s massive $137 million freight access capital upgrade. This step in the project involved replacement of the pipe bridge servicing the Lafarge Cement terminal at the Port of Vancouver. The existing pipe bridge was too low, and had to be replaced in order to allow train clearance for the future rail access line into the Port. The new bridge was constructed with offset drilled shaft foundations and cast-in-place concrete caps that cantilever over the top, as well as underneath the existing pipe bridge.
